WHERE LOVE SHINES CAMERON ART MUSEUM 2020

2020 The Year of the Nurse

"Care for one person, that's love. Care for 100 people, that's nursing."

Usually there for our first breath, and our last breath. The presence and care of a nurse not only heals and comforts, but also genuinely transforms lives. They are teachers, advocates, care givers, supporters and innovators.

2020 was designated by the World Health Assembly as the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife to honor of the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth and to advance nurses' vital role in transforming health care around the world. This piece is an homage to Florence Nightengale, the mother of modern nursing, and an artistic expression of gratitude to all nurses everywhere.

This illuminated sculpture is created using a metal armature and chicken wire to create a base for sculpting a paper mache figure of Florence Nightengale, "the lady with the lamp". The entire sculpture will be covered in collage, utilizing various forms of media (ie newspaper, magazine, special papers ect).
